The End of An Era
No, the company is not going out of business as the title of this article might suggest, but we are in mourning nonetheless. It is the end of an era and we must say farewell to the last of a breed of sportscars, namely the Porsche 911 GT3 997. Following in the footsteps of Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini, Porsche has announced that the next GT3 will switch it's manual gearbox for an automatic transmission. Expect the new Porsche 911 GT3 to hit North American dealerships late this year, priced at a little over $130,000 US. At this year's Geneva Motor show, the new 911 GT3 991 was unveiled, leaving Porsche (and other super car) fans in shock. The company announced that starting in November 2013, the much loved GT3 will be sold with a paddle shifter automatic instead of manual gearbox. More

The Original Porsche Found In A Barn, And It's Electric
The very first Porsche ever made, built in 1898 has been unearthed in a shed in Austria, Ferdinand Porsche's home country, in nearly pristine condition. Best known for it's performance sports cars, Porsche has recently experimented with electric powered vehicles, notably the new hybrid 918 Spyder. However, the company is hardly new to electric vehicles. The 1898 Porsche recently found in a barn was the company's first EV. Called the Egger-Lohner electric vehicle, C.2 Phaeton model, it is the first car design ever produced by company founder Ferdinand Porsche. He was 22 years old and working for a company called Jakon Lohner & Company, who made luxury vehicles for Europe's royalty. Porsche engraved a "P1" mark onto the car's parts. More

2015 Porsche Macan

About a decade ago, Porsche caused a scandal when it veered away from it's high performance sports cars and created a people mover called the Cayenne. That mid-sized crossover was a hit for the company, and now Porsche AG is doing it all over again.
